Klukvin Letter
January 19, 2007
Dear Boulder County Land Use Appeal Board,
My name is Mitzi Klukvin. I live on Magnolia Drive in Boulder County and moved here in 2005. My husband and I retired here not knowing anyone in the area. Very soon thereafter, our neighbors introduced us to the many of the things the County has to offer. One of those was the Aspen Meadows House Concerts.
My husband and I had never heard of house concerts and we were intrigued. Then we went to one. We brought a potluck dish and attended with our next door neighbors as our guides. What a wonderful evening we had! We had a pot luck dinner and met other neighbors and residents of the County. We got to eat with the performer, a young singer songwriter from South Carolina. We got to hear his story. Then we cleared the dishes and the music started. It was the most intimate and warm performance we had ever attended. We were hooked. We also loved what a diverse group of people we lived among. We felt like we had really made a good choice on the place we planned to live and we attended as many concerts as our schedule allowed.
Greg and Debbie Ching have always gone to great lengths to ensure we were courteous to their neighbors. We carpooled. We drove slowly with headlights off until clear of the houses. We were quiet outside. We recycled all our trash and composted the leftovers!
Then, the whole thing got shut down. To say we were disappointed was an understatement. I cant imagine a more creative, grass-roots event that allowed me to meet people of all ages and interests. I feel like the house concerts were one of the most unique experiences I have had in Boulder County.
I hope you allow them to continue because I miss them in my life.
Sincerely,
Mitzi Klukvin
