Dear Land Use Director,
We are writing to express support for the Aspen Meadows House Concert program, which was suspended this summer due to zoning concerns.
We have owned a home and lived on Magnolia Road since 1983, and have appreciated the way a sense of community has developed over the years. Greg and Debbie Ching have notably contributed to this positive change by their volunteerism, through High Country Fire Department, the Magnolia Road Internet Coop and neighborhood group PUMA, and also through founding and sponsorship of the Aspen Meadows House Concerts.
We have attended several concerts at Greg and Debbies home, and have always been impressed by their concern for neighborhood peace and quiet. They have always strongly urged carpooling or walking to the concerts to minimize traffic and noise - and generally meet each arriving guest not only to make sure everyone feels welcome, but to conduct them quietly into the house thereby preventing guests from congregating or milling about to the potential annoyance of adjoining neighbors. We generally attend the neighborhood potluck supper that precedes each concert, and applaud the Chings concern for the environment by providing non-disposable tableware and insisting upon proper recycling and composting of waste.
We know this is not a business for the Ching family, as our checks are always written directly to the performers, and our only other material contribution is a dinner item to share.
The Aspen Meadows House Concert program has been wonderful for us, as Greg and Debbies neighbors, and has fostered and contributed to a community spirit that did not exist when we moved to the area, more than twenty years ago. We strongly believe that it would a detriment to the neighborhood, if the program was permanently discontinued.
